В русском мы часто «проглатываем» окончания, но в английском они важны. Если речь идёт о существительных, запомните ⬇

После звонкого звука — звонкий:

land —> lands [z]
name —> names [z]
letter —> letters [z]

 

После глухого — глухой:
book —> books [s]
seat —> seats [s]
cart —> carts [s]

 

После шипящих — [iz]:
dress —> dresses [iz]
dance —> dances [iz]
rose —> roses [iz]

 

Глаголы в прошедшем времени

 

После звонкого звука — звонкий:

enjoy —> enjoyed [d]
venture —> ventured [d]

 

После глухого — глухой:
miss —> missed [t]
talk —> talked [t]

 

После d или t — [id]
land —> landed [id]
spot —> spotted [id]
want —> wanted [id]

 

 

 

Чаще всего он читается глухо. Слов со звонким th [ð] — всего-то горстка, но они постоянно в ходу.

Итак, TH читается звонко в трёх случаях:

• перед вами служебное слово вроде the, this / that, these / those, they / them / their, there, though, with / without, therefore и thereby. Исключение: through (здесь звук глухой)

• в звукосочетании THER: brother,  bother, together, father, mother, rather, other, either / neither, southern, weather, heather. Исключение: panther (звук глухой)

• типично греческое сочетание THM: rhythm, algorithm, logarithm.

Всё! В остальных словах TH звучит глухо ([θ]).
В начале слова: three, thick, thorough, thumb, thief
В середине: Catholic, gothic.
В конце: path, health, wealth, Earth, tooth
